Jay-Z – Run This Town (ft. Kanye West & Rihanna)

Jay-Z + Kanye West + Rihanna? I smell a hit coming. “Run This Town” is the second single off of Jay-Z’s next album Blueprint 3 which is going to be released on September 11th. Other guests include Kid Cudi and MGMT (WOW).

Rihanna’s hook is probably my favorite part of the song. I mean, imagine the song without her. I don’t think I would’ve appreciated the song as much if she wasn’t in it.

Zambri – Easier (download)

Posted by nickbrutusgrass | Music World | Tuesday 14 July 2009 3:22 am

Listening to Zambri gives me chills down my spine. The sassy Jessica and Cristi Jo’s belting vocals with a grungy, dark feeling guitar and steller keyboard lines on their track titled “Easier” will make you jump up and down on the dancefloor. But be careful, their music is dangerous. Their catchy pop sound will drive you nuts.

Zambri generated some buzz after releasing their self-titled, debut EP last year, and became one amongst the few unsigned bands, to participate as an official act at both the CMJ & SXSW music festivals.

After 2 years of releasing Favorite Worst Nightmare, the Arctic Monkeys are back with new material and a new album titled Humbug due mid-August. Yesterday their first single from the LP leaked a mere hours before it was supposed to be officially released, called “Crying Lightning“.

You can definitely tell that “Crying Lightning” combines everything they’ve learned to date and possibly more, building up excitement for their upcoming release. Sure, the first listen may not grab your attention and pull you away, but it eventually becomes better with more listens. Check it out right ovah herre:

Spiral Beach – Domino

Posted by nickbrutusgrass | Music World | Wednesday 1 July 2009 4:56 am

Spiral Beach are sonic rebels unafraid of breaking all the rules and throwing a party in the process! The band’s love of exploring different sounds and song structures is offset by their sophisticated sense of melody and elaborate vocal harmonies. They have also re-imagined the format of a concert, making their shows epic blowouts that last until dawn and the band dances and even cooks with the audience! Playing in uncommon venues such as art galleries, community halls, and circus spaces, the group has created a rare interactive live show that has fans and critics itching for more. I received their track titled “Domino” in my inbox, and couldn’t sleep on this one…
