We’ve been keeping our eyes peeled for JAMAICA. With the release of their highly anticipated debut album No Problem on the horizon, JAMAICA, the French duo formerly known as Poney Poney have announced their next single. “Short & Entertaining” will be released on August 16th through Co-op Music.. We are in love all over again. Packed with stop-start metallic guitars and fuzzy indie-pop melodies, “Short & Entertaining” is a three minute gem. The video is directed by Jeremie Rozan & Martial Schmetz – from Surface2Air – (Justice vs. Simian, The Streets) and features Igor Cavalera, the drummer and founding member of the Brazilian Thrash metal band Sepultura. Brand new discovery: Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros released their 13-song debut album cynically titled Up From Below a year ago. This group has some weird innuendos and tons of subliminal messages in their music as well as in their outstanding music videos. Now they’re bringing a deluxe edition featuring live versions of their track “Up From Below” and “Carries On”. Meet Girl/girl DJ/Electronic duo Moneypenny. This group was formed in the Spring of 2008 by long-time friends and well known Chicago nightlife personalities Chess Hubbard (DJ Mother Hubbard) and Jessica Gonyea (DJ A-Cup). With both ladies having experienced a great deal of success and high public visibility on their own we are sure to know that they’ll be taking over in no time. They are giving away their first single “Cool & The Gang” for free in exchange for an email address. Meet . Young local producer has had it going for a while with his very own record label that you might have all heard of in the past: Bodega. This underground Producer/Music genius is mostly leaning towards “post-dubstep” or “wonky beats” as he described it. We’ve received his brand new mixtape and tracks off his “Outdoor Life EP”. His title track “Outdoor Life” puts an echoey guitar line over an acid bassline and a garage beat, while “Crosstrainers” is a more soulful take on dubstep, with a little 2-step interlude in the centre.
